ShadowTeq Shutting Down

EverHarvest has been non-functional for a number of months now, with no prospects of ever returning to its previous functional state.

Why? A number of reasons. EverQuest has in recent months become much more aggressive with its anti-cheating and anti-hacking code, and this has directly affected me by having my accounts banned during my efforts to update the software. At around the same time, changes in the target code (particularly regarding camera and character position memory locations) have made it impossible for EverHarvest, at this present time, to reliably detect character position or correctly set the character's heading - all of which is fundamental to the walkpath code used in EverHarvest. My personal life has made it impractical for me to continue the fight against SOE's code, run a business, handle customer support, and see to my family, job, and other activities. Finally, EverQuest is a dying game. They've gone free to play and are losing long-time players to other games at an alarming rate - in other words, the user-base for EverHarvest is shrinking to below the 'worth it' line.

In short, maintaining ShadowTeq is no longer a priority for me.

Those of who who still have active subscriptions - please go to Paypal and cancel them. If you have paid a subscription fee within the past 60 days, please contact me via my email address ( erik@shadowteq.com ) for a refund. If you have paid outside 60 days, you can still contact me, but I can't guarantee I'll have the funds to process a refund immediately when you request one. For one thing, Paypal limits refunds to 60 days, so I'd have to manually send you a payment. In this case the refund will not be in full, but will be minus the original Paypal fees that I paid when the payment was received, and also minus Paypal fees that Paypal will subtract from the payment I send you.

I understand many of you are frustrated, and I'm sorry that it's come to this point, where I have to officially throw in the towel. I was hoping someone would come along and pick up the ball, but I fear it's been dropped too many times to bother with. If anyone out there is so interested, please let me know - it's going cheap these days. Otherwise, this may just be the end of it.

It's been a hell of a roller coaster.
